Jesus, You Started it, you Finished it

You were born of a virgin in humble surroundings. You walked among us as one of us.

You were ordained by your Father in a river through a lowly man preparing your people with the good news of your arrival has come.

For 40 days and 40 nights you brought yourself to a place of the churning tempest in your soul, in the vessel of your Father’s hands he sailed you on to the other side for the sake of your feet to lead you onto the rest of your way, the truth and the life.

You began your journey by giving us instruction, words to take to heart, and the meaning of life and love, with plenty of your Father’s virtue to go around amongst those who believed.

You started by speaking to us on a mountain about kingdom blessings to those who walked in the presence of God. You provided to the multitudes with loafs and fishes with much from the little. You have spoken to us of great mysteries; that the least shall became the greatest and the last became first.

You healed the sick, raised the dead, caused the lame to walk, mended the broken, gave sight to the blind. You restored our hearts, and gave us hope to take our journey on.

Weary from our journey you called us to come and find comfort and rest. Your message to us was the kingdom of God is within all’s grasp, and from your burden we bear, we will be put at ease.

You broke bread and drank from one cup with those closest to you, knowing one will deny and another betray. And chose to drink from another cup following, knowing the first cup from your brokenness will be poured out for all.

You prayed in a garden of a olive press, as the weight of the world bares down on you with the pressure of what is to come.

You were dragged into the courts of a earthly kingdom, with your righteousness only a stone’s throw away. Being bound and beaten, your flesh was striped, you were spat upon by your own people for this very reason; the power to forgive and proclaimed the kingdom of heaven is here to reside within the hearts of all men.

All power and authority were transferred from the religious authority and placed on you by your Father. From their jealousy, you were put in prison, given a crown of thorns, and stripped naked.

You were judged by your own brethren. Given a cross to carry, to which your hands and feet were nailed. You were executed next to two criminals, one who is in your presence this day, whom was the only from you own mouth be the first to enter paradise under your sacrifice. You gave up your life and it was yours to give, for an unruly ragtag generation.

Your last words to your Father was of forgiveness and feeling forsaken, and your final chapter on earth has come to a completion.

Your side was pierced and your blood ran from the cross to your mercy seat to seal the everlasting promise.

You spent three days and nights in the belly of darkness, sadness and distress. To take up the cup of wrath upon you, so that from it we all will be spared. Your Father called out to you and revealed your glory, you bruised your heel on the neck of the one who deceived us, and in doing so you grabbed the keys that bound us in death and a life without fellowship in God. You rose on that day to give back all that was lost to us.

Jesus the Christ, the only begotten Son of the living God the Father

You started it, you finished it.

And here we are this day.
